Christmas is just around the corner. And Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker has become synonymous with the holiday season. There are countless interpretations, but here is Montreal-born conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra performing the classic ballet work. Montreal will soon have a taste of the Catalan cuisine of maestro of avant-garde tapas Carles Abellan. The international outpost of his restaurant Tapas 24 is expected to make its highly anticipated debut this summer. Under the influence of Iberian culture and the 35th edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, I recently stumbled upon a recording of legendary jazz artist Miles Davis interpreting Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez.
