In Le Devoir, music critic Christophe Huss presents the Grand Orgue Pierre-Béique, property of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the concerts and recitals that will mark its inauguration, starting on Wednesday May 28. The traditional mechanical organ boasts some very modern technologies, notably a mobile keyboard that allows the organist to sit among the orchestra, while perfectly controlling the instrument. http://www.ledevoir.com/culture/musique/408969/dans-l-antre-d-une-bete-a-83-tetes

Here’s an outdoor noon concert series I run at Place d’Armes in Old Montréal all summer. This year there are 36 concerts, Tuesdays through Fridsays, July and August. This year features a great line-up of bands, which I’m not yet at liberty to announce. So bring a picnic and soak it up.
I use a…[Read more]

Now that we’re friends, can I tempt you on a pair of KEF R300s? Once you’ve heard them you’ll see, or rather, hear the need to steer clear of compressed mp3s!@gharling

Noah Dueck started the topic Miles Davis – Kind of Blue LP in the forum I heard a great recording 11 years, 9 months ago
I’ve recently received a mint, never-been-played, vinyl copy of Miles Davis – Kind of Blue. It is absolutely fantastic! I’ve heard subtleties in the music that I had never noticed before. The background fluttering in ‘All Blues’ was one of those moments. It is a great addition to my vinyl collection and an absolute pleasure to listen to.

It sounds like we need to sit down and do an A-B comparison between the Columbia sanctioned re-mastered for CD version and your LP. Is it a re-issue or does is it an original release?
-
As far as I can tell, it is an original release 1959!

“does” not belong there!

That’s an excellent record! One of my favourites as well. I don’t know if you are aware of this, but this album is essentially improvisation. Miles Davis wrote the basics and then he and the other musicians ‘jammed’ it out with this as the final product.
