According to several sources, jazz legend and composer extraordinaire Horace Silver died today at the age of 85. Thank you for all the great music!


On May 5th, Google announced that it’s streaming music service, Google Play Music, was now available in Canada. I’ve been using it for the free trial period, and I have to say I’ve been amazed at the amount of music I get to choose from for the same price as my Netflix subscription. I’ve now had a chance to explore albums that I would likely never have tried. While this is still lossy compressed audio, it is still as good as, if not better than expected from a streaming audio service. I’ll probably blog about some of the discoveries (and rediscoveries) I find.

Une reprise extraordinaire du classique de Thelonious Monk, « Round Midnight », par le trio Esbjörn Svensson, saisie sur le vif en 2000. Une interprétation intime et tout en douceur, et une fabuleuse prestation du regretté Svensson.
